How to turn a YouTube Short into a LinkedIn post

A Short that worked on YouTube rarely works on LinkedIn as a link. LinkedIn readers scroll text first, and a bare video link gives them nothing to read before they decide. The fix is not to describe the video. It is to write down the one idea the video carries, in sentences, so the post stands on its own and the video becomes optional.

  1. Pick the clip with one clear point. A Short that makes a single argument, shows one before-and-after, or answers one question converts cleanly. A montage or a trend sound does not, because there is nothing said to write from.
  2. Get the words, not the visuals. This tool works from what was spoken. For a YouTube link it reads the captions. For an Instagram Reel or TikTok, copy the auto-generated captions or transcript and paste them. For a clip on your phone, upload it.
  3. Let the post lead with the point. The draft opens with the claim or observation from the video, not with "In my latest video". If you want to link the video, add it in the first comment, which keeps the post readable in the feed.
  4. Check every number and name. The tool is told not to add anything you did not say, so if the video mentioned a figure, it stays; if it did not, none appears. Still, read it once. A figure that was fine said aloud with context can look bare in text.
  5. Post it yourself. Copy the draft, adjust a word or two so it sounds like you on a normal day, and publish from LinkedIn. Klype never posts for you.

Instagram Reels and TikTok

Links from Instagram and TikTok are not fetched here. Open the Reel or TikTok, turn on captions or open the transcript, copy the text and use the "Paste transcript" tab. You get the same result, and nothing is downloaded from those platforms.

Voice notes and long videos

The tool takes a voice note or a short clip up to 3 minutes and 25 MB. Many founders find a voice note is the quickest way to get an idea out: talk for 90 seconds about something you noticed this week, upload it, and edit the draft. For a longer talk or podcast, cut the 2 to 3 minutes that hold the point and upload only that, or paste that part of the transcript.

What makes a repurposed post read well

Spoken language is looser than written language. People repeat themselves, start sentences they do not finish and lean on filler. The draft keeps your phrasing where it carries meaning and drops the filler, so it reads like you writing rather than a transcript. It keeps short sentences short. It does not add a hook formula, a list of lessons or a question at the end unless you said one. Those are common machine-writing patterns; our study of AI-written LinkedIn posts covers them in detail.

Why the free version has limits

Each run transcribes media and calls a language model, which costs real money. The limits keep the tool free for people rather than scripts. If you repurpose video every week, the full Klype workspace does this with your product, buyer and measured voice in context, plans posts across a calendar, and checks every draft before you publish.

Questions

Is this YouTube Shorts to LinkedIn post tool free?

Yes. You get 5 free runs per verified email, shared across the free tools, and up to 5 runs per network per day. You only need an email; there is no account and no card.

Can I convert an Instagram Reel or TikTok?

Yes, by pasting its transcript or captions in the "Paste transcript" tab. Reel and TikTok links are not fetched directly. You can also upload the clip itself if it is under 3 minutes and 25 MB.

Which YouTube videos work?

YouTube Shorts and regular YouTube videos that have captions, including auto-generated captions. If a video has no captions, paste a transcript or upload the audio instead.

Will the post include facts that were not in the video?

It should not. The tool is instructed to write only from what was said and not to add figures, stories or quotes. Read the draft before posting, and run it through the free post checker if you want a second look.

Does Klype post to LinkedIn for me?

No. You copy the draft and publish it yourself. Klype never posts or logs in as you, in the free tools or in the paid product.

What happens to my email?

It is used to count your free runs. You only get marketing notes from Klype if you tick the optional box.
